Nashville in Harmony’s 2020-21 season launches with an exciting holiday concert premiere that also marks Wesley King’s first show as Artistic Director
November 16, 2020 – Nashville, TN – Nashville in Harmony, a 120-voice mixed citywide chorus for people of all sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression, announces it will present At Home for the Holidays, a free, virtual holiday concert on December 12, 2020, at 7:30 p.m. CT on Nashville in Harmony’s Facebook page. This exciting virtual experience aims to reach and provide musical comfort to Nashville’s communities and beyond, and it will also mark Wesley King’s first concert as the organization’s newly appointed Artistic Director.
At Home for the Holidays will feature new performances produced remotely as well as excerpts from concerts past, including footage from Nashville in Harmony’s winter concert at the historic Ryman Auditorium. In addition to the performances, this concert will also feature the organization’s youth chorus, the Major Minors, who will present a creation of their own, messages from Nashville in Harmony members and community leaders, and a Drag Queen Storytime. “While creating a nostalgic, uplifting evening of music, we want this to be a variety show of sorts,” says Wesley King. “I am most excited for everyone to see just how collaborative this concert (and season) is going to be. We have people working on the production of this show in ways that we have never had before.”
While this concert is free to the public, Nashville in Harmony encourages viewers to support the organization by donating to the organization either on their website or by texting 615-933-2365 to give. “We are experiencing challenging times, and in this pandemic and the tumultuous social and political climate, we need art now more than ever,” states Wesley King. “We need to create opportunities for a better world, and I believe Nashville in Harmony facilitates a community of hope and belonging, especially for folks who are often left out. Supporting our organization supports our mission to use music to build community and create social change, even in times such as these.”
